Dom Dalessandro Charlottesville 2018

And it begins.

To kick off our top hitters series, we begin with the 15th best hitter in the 2018 Valley League season- Charlottesville’s Dominic D’Alessandro!

From George Washington, the rising senior had a superb summer for the Tom Sox. Here is his stat line:

Char G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS Avg OBP SLG
2018 34 136 21 44 10 0 6 48 10 25 0 0 0.324 0.371 0.529

In the league, Dominic finished 10th in slugging, 1st in RBI, 5th in home runs, tied for 7th in total bases (72), tied for 7th in 2B, and was named 1st team All-Valley at designated hitter. He was ATVL’s hitter of the day twice, and his best game was on June 28th against Staunton, when he went 5-6, with 2 doubles, 2 runs, and 5 RBIs. (Spoiler alert:  His 48 RBIs puts him tied for 8th best in the league since 2004. Stay tuned for the League Record Book, coming soon.)

What he did in the Valley should come as no surprise, because Dom hits wherever he is. His college stats look like this:

G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS Avg OBP SLG
2016 58 211 58 76 14 1 15 64 19 45 3 1 0.360 0.419 0.649
2017 57 210 45 83 22 2 12 77 17 47 5 0 0.395 0.451 0.690
2018 56 195 31 62 15 1 9 47 20 46 1 2 0.318 0.394 0.544

*Note: 2016 and 2017 were at Rowan, and 2018 at GW.

He was named a second team Division-III NJCAA All-American and All-Conference both years at Rowan, and was also ABCA All-East Region First Team after his 2018 season with George Washington.

Dom is returning to GW this fall; watch for another excellent performance at the plate for the young man!
