All Things Valley League, hosted on typepad.com, was created in November of 2006. On February 20, 2011, I called an end to the blog after 1,711 posts and over 175,000 visitors. The reason is detailed here. To make a long story short, my family and I were moving continents (from North America to Africa), and let’s face it, blogging from Kenya about a league based in Virginia, while struggling through transition (because everyone struggles through transition), is not an easy proposition.

About a year and a half later, I discovered that I was still keeping up with lists- oh so many lists- and I was itching to post again. I took the easy route- especially since typepad was now ridiculously expensive- to Facebook. So, since August 2012  to now, the page has been “liked” by 588 fans. But ATVL (well, me, of course) has been hankering after a blog again. There are two main reasons for this, but many smaller reasons, too: 1) Not everyone is on Facebook, believe it or not; and 2) Facebook will eventually slow down and die, like most social media. That may not be for many more years, but it will happen, like everything else. Smaller reasons include being able to track visitors better, a blog just seems more permanent than a Facebook page, and I feel like more of a journalist, and… well, you get the picture.

So, I have decided to reprise the blog- this time hosted on wordpress.com- and use both mediums to get the message out that the Valley League is pretty doggone awesome.

So sign up for email updates, or don’t; like the posts on here and on Facebook, or don’t; but please do tell your friends, families, and teams- ATVL is back!
