The writer for this site, John Leonard (he/him), loves baseball in all forms, but especially the Valley League. He has way too many spreadsheets and lists involving this league- ask him about them sometime. He was the Media Relations Director for the Valley League from 2019 through the 2022 season. He has two adult daughters and one long-suffering, supportive wife. In June 2019, he and his wife moved back to Harrisonburg after living the previous eight years in Nairobi, Kenya.

All Things Valley League covers anything and everything about the Valley League, a summer wood-bat collegiate league in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. It was originally started in November, 2006, over on Typepad. In February, 2011, Leonard took a break, ostensibly because he was moving to a different continent with his family. In August, 2012, the idea was resurrected on Facebook (while the writer was waiting to travel to South Africa for back surgery). In April of 2014, the blog was reborn.

  1. John – Thought that was you I saw in Hagerstown! Took me a while to place the face, and then once I did, I guess you had already left the ballpark! I was there in between games. You coming back for any more games in Hagerstown or Frederick?

    1. Mike! You were there??? Sorry I missed you! I am, actually, hoping to get to Frederick this summer before we head back.

  2. On the stolen base record, note that Bobby Rauh did it in 1/2 season, cuz the Braves signed him after drafting him in the 25th round.
That’s a lot of 3rd base attempts to hit 41 tries in 1/2 season !
