On Thursday night, Mac Williamson (Harrisonburg 2011) had one of those career games against Visalia in the California League- he went 5-5, with 3 runs, 2 doubles, and 2 RBIs. His 5 hits tied the San Jose club record.
Really, Mac should be in Double-A, but he has a bad shoulder, and Double-A Richmond does not use a designated hitter, so for now, Mac is back in High-A for another go-round. On the season so far, he’s hitting 318/420/506 in 23 games and 85 at-bats, with 7 doubles, 3 home runs, and a 13/14 BB/K ratio.
In the article written by Robert Emrich on milb.com, Mac said, “I’ve been seeing the ball pretty well lately,” Williamson said. “I feel good about my swing, but the results haven’t been there this season. Today I managed to put a few good swings on it and the results showed.” Indeed.
