There were two excellent performances by former Valley Leaguers in the minors over the past couple days. So, to keep everyone up to date:
1. Brandon Sinnery (Winchester 2009) threw a complete game shutout on May 10 against Bakersfield in the California League. He allowed 7 hits, struck out 4, and didn’t walk a single batter. On the year so far, Brandon is 4-2, 3.26, while allowing 53 hits and 14 walks in 49 2/3 innings pitched, and striking out 39. This game was his first complete game shutout of the season, but he threw 7 shutout innings on April 14th against Modesto.
2. Brad Mills (Harrisonburg 2005) continued his dominance of the Pacific Coast League with 6 more shutout innings last night against Iowa, allowing only 1 hit, 1 walk, and striking out 8. On the year, Brad is 3-0, 1.45, with 25 hits and 7 walks in 37 1/3 innings, along with 31 strikeouts. Over Brad’s last three starts, he’s allowed only 5 hits, 4 walks, and 0 earned runs in 19 innings, and has struck out 17 batters. I’m not rooting for an injury, but I can’t imagine Brad is too far down the list of potential callups if someone does get hurt in Milwaukee.
