The league website has published two more previews: the Waynesboro Generals and the Aldie Senators. Let’s take a quick look:
1. Waynesboro Generals (written by Dom Calandra): The defending champs have one big hole to fill- Coach Mike Bocock will not return. The new coach is D.J. King (Shorter College), an assistant coach at South Carolina-Aiken. There is also a new General Manager- Tyler Hoffman, who has just finished his own college career at Bridgewater College. The team has one returner, local product Terrell Thompson, who played for the Generals way back in 2010. Another “returner” is assistant coach Josh Tutwiler, who played for the Harrisonburg Turks in 2008 and the Staunton Braves in 2011. Josh is now an assistant coach at William & Mary.
2. Aldie Senators (written by Michael Lynch): The Senators return their coach, Eric Lemley, who has coached for six years at University of Virginia-Wise. The team also returns four players from their 2013 squad that finished 22-22. They are pitcher Humberto Delatorre, catchers Michael Miranda and Eason Spivey, and outfielder Matt Malacane.
Don’t look now, but the season starts in just three days!
