Day 2 of the VBL season! (No panicking, fans, ok? Starting 0-2 doesn’t mean much…)

Hitter of the Day
Our hitter of the day is Charles Town’s Matt Gandy, in his second year in the Valley (he played for Covington in 2013). Matt, who has played for three years for Chapman, went 3-4 last night, with a run, 2 RBIs, a double, and a walk. He was on base four times! Matt is 4-7 with 2 walks so far in 2014. I would say that qualifies as a fast start.

Pitcher of the Day
Our pitcher of the day, with a game score of 66, is Luke Cahill, from Covington and Seton Hall. The rising junior and 2014 second team All-Big East shut down the Winchester Royals, throwing 6 shutout innings and allowing only 5 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 6 while earning the win. Luke went 10-2, 2.65 for the Pirates- I’m interested to see how he pitches the rest of the summer!
