Our hitter of the day is New Market’s Darian Carpenter, a rising sophomore at VCU. So last night, Darian went 2-3, with 3 runs, 3 RBIs, a walk, double, and home run. He’s been great all season for the Rebs, as he’s hitting 343/452/629 in 35 at-bats, with 4 doubles, 2 home runs, 3 stolen bases, and a 5/9 BB/K ratio. This looks like a top ten hitter if he can keep it up all year!

Pitcher of the Day

It’s a Rebel sweep! The pitcher of the day is New Market’s Jake Perkins, a rising junior at Ferrum. Jake dominated the Turks, throwing 7 shutout innings and allowing only 2 hits, 3 walks, and striking out 8 to earn the win. For the season, he’s now 1-1, 3.00, with 13 strikeouts and 9 walks in 12 innings. (Jake had quite the season for Ferrum- he went 8-1, 1.95, with 15 walks and 85 strikeouts in 73 2/3 innings pitched. He was named USA South Pitcher of the Year. He threw two no-hitters!)
