Short-season ball has started, which means that the Valley Leaguers who were drafted and signed have been assigned to their new professional teams. Three former VBLers have been assigned to the same team- the Eugene Emeralds, the San Diego Padres’ Northwest League affiliate.
They are Seth Lucio (Waynesboro 2012), drafted in the 12th round, Aaron Cressley (New Market 2013), drafted in the 26th round, and Chris Huffman (Staunton 2012-13), drafted in the 14th round.
Coincidentally, all three have not been scored on yet in pro ball. Lucio and Cressley have thrown 3 innings each, and Huffman one.
Thanks to Staunton’s Steve Cox for the heads up!
Here are their brand-spanking-new pictures from Eugene! (Why aren’t Chris and Aaron smiling? Is it the teal?)
