Another night of high scoring! Six games played, 88 runs scored, which equals 14.7 per game. I would think that the ball’s juiced like a couple years ago, but it doesn’t look like home runs are up that much. Could this just be a “down” pitching year? Anyway, on to the scores:

Scores

Covington 8, Front Royal 7 (game 1- 9 innings)
Front Royal 11, Covington 4 (game 2- 7 innings)
Staunton 8, Waynesboro 6 (10 innings)
Charles Town 9, Aldie 7
Strasburg 8, New Market 7
Winchester 9, Woodstock 4

Hitter(s) of the Day

Last night, we had one player with 5 hits, two with 4, and 7 with 3! So, not surprisingly, the decision was rather difficult. In lieu of that fact, we’re going to name two hitters of the day for the first time this year. They are:

1. Jose Carrera, Covington, from Manhattan College. Jose was perfect in game one of the doubleheader, going 4-4 with 3 runs, a walk, and a double. He’s a repeat winner; he won HOD back on June 21. Jose is hitting 326/405/432 for the season so far in Covington.

1A. Joey Rodriguez, Staunton, from Wake Forest. Joey had a dynamite evening for the Braves, going 5-6, with 2 runs, an RBI, a double, and a stolen base. He’s hitting 345/402/405 so far this summer. He also won the HOD award before- back on June 25.
