McNeill, left, and Joey Rodriguez

This beginning to get redundant! Our hitter of the day is just out of control this summer, having multiple-hit games almost every night. It’s Staunton’s Gunnar McNeill, from Florida International, who once again had a terrific night, going 3-5, with a run, 4 RBIs, and a home run. Gunnar is hitting 444/513/626 for the Braves, with 9 doubles, 3 home runs, 33 RBIs, and a 15/13 BB/K ratio in 99 at-bats. Whoa!

Pitcher of the Day

Our pitcher of the day is also a repeater, who seems to get better every time he takes the mound: New Market’s Garrett Kelly, fromRich Cooley/Daily Wake Forest. Garrett, who is in the Valley to gain pitching experience, threw a complete game shutout last night against Winchester, allowing only 4 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 11. (His game score is 88.)
