So the Waynesboro Generals have been crowned the 2014 Valley League champions. All the players have gone home. The advertisements have been taken off the outfield fences. Kate Collins is now a middle school, not the home of the Generals.

So, with no games to report on, what’s next on this site?

The good news is that there is always something to write about.

First of all, the major and minor leagues are still playing, so I’ll be watching former Valley Leaguers in pro ball. (Like Cory Spangenberg (Winchester 2010), for example. Cory is back from concussion issues and is hitting with a vengeance at Double-A San Antonio in the Padres’ system.)

I’m planning a couple posts on the top hitters and pitchers in the VL playoffs this year.

Transactions are always a possibility. Where are those former VBLers in pro ball?

I’ll post on how park factors came out in the 2014 season. (Even with Strasburg playing on the road most of the year.) (Park factors are a look at how each Valley League park either suppressed or increased offensive output. The results may surprise you!)

The biggest thing I do every offseason is the “best players” lists- this year, it will be the top 15 hitters, top 11 starting pitchers, and top 10 relievers in the 2014 VBL season. (Lists are made- now the writing shall begin…)

I’ll post on my record book, as well. I have the complete record book from the 2004 VBL season, and minor and major league stats since the 2006 draft.

Maybe I’ll be able to fit in an interview here and there, although they are difficult from long distance.

Feel free to drop me a line asking about where I am in which process, or when I’ll be covering something you’re looking forward to.

It’s a loooong offseason, but keep checking this space for everything you’d like to know about the Valley League!
