Adam Parks is well known to Valley League fans, mostly because of the perfect game he threw for Charles Town in 2013. This page named him the #6 starter in the league after the season.
Well, last night, Adam was a part of more history. He pitched the 9th and 10th innings of a no-hitter- the first extra-inning no-hitter in the Northwest League’s history! Adam’s team, Spokane, scored 3 runs in the top of the 11th inning, which made him the official winner of the game.
A 33rd round draft pick of the Texas Rangers this June, Adam’s been pitching in relief all season, and quite well too. Including last night, he’s 2-1, 1.96, with 15 hits, 2 walks, and 22 strikeouts in 18 1/3 innings pitched.
In an odd twist, the opposing team, the Everett AquaSox (these minor league names are amazing), started a former Valley Leaguer,
Ryan Yarbrough (Luray 2012). Ryan did his best to preserve things, as he threw a perfect 3 innings, with 3 strikeouts, before giving way to the bullpen. Ryan has even better numbers than Parks: he’s 0-1, 1.61, with 16 hits, 3 walks, and 39 strikeouts in 28 innings pitched.
What a night for the VBL!
