We only have a few categories left!
So here we have the top totals of strikeouts since the 2004 Valley League season:
| 1 | Tim Gudex | Harrisonburg | 2004 | 89 |
| 2 | Dustin Umberger | Luray | 2007 | 88 |
| 3 | Cody Weiss | Luray | 2010 | 87 |
| 4 | Drew Granier | Harrisonburg | 2010 | 84 |
| 5 | Robert Gilliam | Luray | 2007 | 81 |
| 6 | Jeff Dagenhart | New Market | 2004 | 79 |
| Josh Eidell | Woodstock | 2007 | 79 | |
| 8 | Kevin Herget | Strasburg | 2012 | 77 |
| 9 | Omar Aguilar | Covington | 2004 | 76 |
| Sean Stidfole | Winchester | 2004 | 76 |
What’s interesting about this list is that almost everyone got a shot at pro ball. In fact, only Dagenhart and Eidell haven’t played affiliated ball.
Granier, Gilliam, and Herget, though, are the only ones left. Granier reached Triple-A in 2014, while Gilliam has reached Double-A, and Herget, perhaps the most accomplished Express member so far, went 8-3, 2.71 in Low-A and High-A, along with a whopping 94 strikeouts in 76 1/3 innings pitched.
Herget is also the last Valley Leaguer to make the list- all the way back in 2012. Winchester’s Michael Carpenter led the 2014 Valley League with 54 regular season strikeouts.
Games pitched is all that’s left for our league record book….
