Time to get back to posting!
Today we’ll start off slowly, with the list of top home run seasons in the minor leagues. Here’s the list:
| 1 | Clint Robinson | Harrisonburg ’05-06 | 2010 | 29 |
| 2 | Jonathan Griffin | Luray ’10 | 2012 | 28 |
| Rudy Flores | Haymarket ’10 | 2014 | 28 | |
| 4 | Michael Snyder | Haymarket ’11 | 2013 | 25 |
| Mac Williamson | Harrisonburg ’11 | 2013 | 25 | |
| 6 | Ryan Schmipf | Luray ’08 | 2014 | 24 |
| 7 | Clint Robinson | Harrisonburg ’05-07 | 2011 | 23 |
| Ryan Schmipf | Luray ’08 | 2013 | 23 | |
| 9 | Ryan Schmipf | Luray ’08 | 2012 | 22 |
| 10 | Quinn Stewart | Staunton ’04 | 2007 | 21 |
| AJ Kirby-Jones | Waynesboro ’09 | 2012 | 21 | |
| Mickey Wiswall | Winchester ’08 | 2012 | 21 |
I’m tempted to call this the Clint Robinson list, and while it’s true that he’s leading the whole thing, Ryan Schmipf is on it THREE times, and it’s been over the last three years- 2012, 2013, and 2014. That’s rather impressive!
Rudy Flores is the other 2014 season on the list, and he came only one home run short of tying Robinson for the best since the 2006 draft.
Interestingly, the top nine spots are all still active in pro ball, while the last three- Stewart, Kirby-Jones, and Wiswall- are all out of pro ball.
I’m curious to see what Williamson might be able to do with a complete, healthy season….
