ATVL’s #10 reliever in the 2014 Valley League season is New Market’s Timothy McCarthy, the 6-foot-6 righthander from Temple!
Timothy pitched in 8 games for the Rebels, going 2-1, 2.84, with 11 hits, 2 walks, and 9 strikeouts in 12 2/3 innings pitched. He had a .229 opponent’s batting average, 1.024 WHIP, 1.4 BB/9, and 6.4 K/9.
As a freshman at Temple in 2013, McCarthy went 2-2, 2.57 in 12 games and 14 innings. As a sophomore in 2014, he went 3-3, 3.60 in 21 games and 25 innings.
In a side note, Timothy’s grandfather was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Maybe he can become the next in the family to play pro ball!
