As I mentioned in the #9B writeup on Staunton’s Taylor Davis, I chose to include two pitchers with awesome stats, but fewer innings, in the #9 spot.
So our #9A reliever is Aldie’s Carter Siweck!
Carter was pretty close to unhittable for the Senators in 2014. In 11 innings, he allowed 5 hits, 2 unearned runs, 0 earned runs, 1 walk, and struck out 6. His batting average against was .128, his WHIP 0.545, BB/9 at 0.8, and his K/9 4.9. He earned two saves for good measure.
The righthander from Division-II Chowan has had middling success in college so far. In 2013, he went 2-2, 3.94, with 2 saves, 33 hits, 12 walks, and 19 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched. As a sophomore in 2014, he went 1-1, 5.23, with 26 hits, 7 walks, and 11 strikeouts in 20 2/3 innings.
As an interesting side note, Carter is majoring in sports management, but is minoring in… wait for it…. English!
Congratulations, Carter!
