Evan Bickett Indiana Southast 2014We’re starting to get to the best of the best: introducing ATVL’s #4 reliever in the 2014 Valley League season- Front Royal’s Evan Bickett!

Evan, a 6-foot-1 senior righthander from Indiana Southwest, was dynamite out of the pen for the Cardinals in 2014. (Maybe a different metaphor? Maybe a wet blanket? Explosions for relievers are generally to be avoided…)

Anyway, for Front Royal, Evan went 1-1, 1.80, with 2 saves, a .227 batting average against, 0.900 WHIP, 0.6 BB/9, and 10.5 K/9 in 30 innings pitched. He had an incredible 2/35 BB/K ratio in those 30 innings- that’s dominant! Evan also started two games late in his summer in the Valley.

Evan took a year to get going in college, but over the last two seasons, his numbers haven’t looked very different from his stats in summer ball. As a freshman in 2012, Evan went 0-1, 5.91 in only 10 2/3 innings. He broke out as a sophomore, though, going 2-5, 2.17, with 3 saves, 5 walks, and 29 strikeouts in 29 innings. He got even better as a junior in 2014, going 3-1, 1.90, with 11 saves, 7 walks, and 44 strikeouts in 42 2/3 innings pitched. Evan was named to the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference 1st team in 2014 as a relief pitcher. The Grenadiers start 2015 play on February 20th.

Congratulations on your excellent summer, Evan!
