Thanks to the Staunton Braves’ twitter feed (@StauntonBraves), this information came across my desk: former Staunton Brave Zach Mawson (2013), a senior lefty from Rider, threw 8 shutout innings against Duke yesterday!
Through 8 innings, Zach allowed only 3 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 7. Unfortunately, Rider was unable to scratch out even one run, and Duke eventually scored in the 11th inning to win, 1-0.
Zach has been great after two starts this season: he’s 0-0, 1.93, with 11 hits, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched.
Way to go, Zach!
