Each year, I use a post or two to highlight pitchers who have not qualified for my lists, but still threw really, really well. (To be clear, starters had to throw .8 innings per team game.) They have fallen into the gap.

So here is a list of pitchers who didn’t qualify, but would have been considered if they had continued throwing the way they started.

  • Luke Cahill, Covington and Seton Hall: The junior went 2-1, 0.91, with a 1.117 WHIP, 1.8 BB/9, and 9.1 K/9 in 19 2/3 innings
  • Chad Martin, Aldie and Delaware: 1-2, 2.32, with a 0.968 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9, and 8.1 K/9 in 31 innings pitched. Chad is getting some attention from Baseball America this spring about his future potential…
  • Nick Gollin, Strasburg and Washington: 1-0, 3.00, 1.133 WHIP, 0.6 BB/9 and 6.6 K/9 in 15 innings
  • Jack Charleston, Charles Town and Faulkner: 3-2, 2.96, 1.056 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9, 6.5 K/9 in 30 1/3 innings pitched
  • Daniel Guido, Front Royal and Oakton: 1-1, 1.31, 0.876 WHIP, 2.0 BB/9, 7.2 K/9 in 13 2/3 innings
  • Blake Ream, Staunton and Christopher Newport: 3-1, 1.46, 1.173 WHIP, 4.4 Bb/9, and 7.3 K/9 in 30 2/3 innings
  • Ryan Castellanos, Harrisonburg and Illinois-Champaign: 1-1, 2.00, 1.111 WHIP, 1.0 BB/9, 9.0 K/9 in 18 innings
