The Tampa Yankees battered the Clearwater Threshers yesterday in the Florida State League, 12-1 (is there much “threshing” done in Clearwater, Florida?).
The little Yanks pounded out 15 hits, including four by the former Valley Leaguer Matt Snyder (Haymarket, Winchester 2011). He also walked once, and drove in 4 runs in the contest. Matt, looking like he’s 100% healthy, has hit in 10 of Tampa’s 11 games so far this year, and has slash lines of 415/500/537 in 41 at-bats. A small sample size, sure, but a great start nonetheless!
Matt, a big dude at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, was picked in the 10th round of the 2012 draft by the Yankees, who are hoping that he eventually taps into his power in Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
Keep it up, Matt!
