And yet another former Valley Leaguer had made it to the pinnacle of the baseball world! On Wednesday, former Haymarket Senator Jack Leathersich (2009) pitched in the major leagues for the New York Mets, throwing a third of an inning.
Jack has been on ATVL’s radar for quite a while now, as he’s been a strikeout machine in the minor leagues. Jack had an amazing 15.3 K/9 rate over 204 innings in the minors! And, as we all know, when a pitcher can miss bats consistently, they have a good chance to keep moving up the ladder.
Jack is the second member of the ’09 Championship-winning Senators to reach the majors, joining infielder Tommy LaStella, who is currently on the disabled list with the Chicago Cubs.
Congratulations, Jack!
