Joseph Camacho pitched in New Market in the summer of 2013. He threw only 3 innings, but because he appeared in a game, he is considered an alumnus.

That’s a good thing, because Camacho just finished an incredible year for Alabama State. The junior righthander went an incredible 12-0, 3.84, with 93 hits allowed, 20 walks, and 76 strikeouts in 84 1/3 innings pitched. He started 13 games total, and won 12 of them, while the entire rest of the pitching staff went 19-19 (the team won the one game that Joseph did NOT record a win, too). Sure, wins are a team stat more than an individual one, but 12-0 is pretty remarkable. He also led the team in starts, innings, strikeouts, and interestingly, pickoffs.

At the end of the season, Joseph was named first team All-SWAC (Southwestern Athletic Conference), as well as Pitcher of the Year for the second season in a row.

Congratulations on your excellent season, Joseph!
