All six games were played last night. I can say from experience (my wife and I attended the Turks game for the first 6 innings) that it was a beautiful night. Not all teams would agree, I would imagine….

Edgar Lebron
Edgar Lebron

Our hitter of the day is Front Royal’s Edgar Lebron, from Lindsay Wilson. Edgar went 4-6, with 2 runs, 3 RBIs, a double, and a stolen base. Edgar is well on his way to making ATVL’s top hitters list if he keeps this up, as he’s slashing 403/481/493 in 67 at-bats. He has 11 stolen bases and a 10/9 BB/K ratio.

Pitcher of the Day

Reid Van Woert St Bonaventure 2015
Reid Van Woert

This was an amazing night for pitchers. The VBL had THREE pitchers achieve a game score of 70 or better, which is almost unheard of. In fact, the last 70+ start was back on June 19th. So, the best start of all was turned in by Aldie’s Reid Van Woert, from St.Bonaventure. Reid threw 7 shutout innings while allowing only 1 hit, 0 walks, and striking out 1. His game score is 76! Reid is now 1-0, 2.36 in 19 innings pitched this summer.

Others of Note

Corey Sessions, Front Royal (who had one of the 70+ games back on 6/19): 9 IP, 6 hits, 1 earned run, 0 BB, 2 K’s, win (73)
Austin Southcott, Covington: 9 IP, 8 hits, 2 runs, 0 earned, 1 BB, 4 K’s, win (70)
Sam Vincenzo, Staunton: 3.2 IP, 1 hit, 1 unearned run, 0 BB, 5 K’s
David Lee, Winchester: 5 IP, 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned, 1 BB, 3 K’s, win (57)
Steven Ridings, Charles Town: 7 IP, 6 hits, 2 earned runs, 0 BB, 11 K’s, win (68)

Tonight’s Schedule

Covington (Matt Picucci) at Charles Town (Tyler Dearden) (I hope Tyler throws a baseball better than he throws a frisbee…I would put a smiley face here to show everyone I’m joking. Let’s just say you learn things about teams when you go to games early. The Cannons are a loose bunch.)
Front Royal (Indalecio Romo) at Charlottesville (Matt Jamer)
New Market (Daniel Powers) at Winchester (Keenan Bartlett)
Harrisonburg (Matt Hartman) at Strasburg (Drew Avans)
