Omar Cotto has already had an eventful baseball career, even though he’s only 23 years old.
First of all, and most relevant to this space, Omar played in Front Royal in 2014. He did not, however, play in this most recent college baseball season at USC due to off-field issues.
Even though Omar was not drafted this June, the Brewers still called with a contract offer, and Omar accepted. Sent to Helena in the Pioneer League, Cotto made his pro debut on June 19th.
Yesterday, Cotto had his best pro game so far. He went 3-4, with a run, RBI, and walk, but he created the most damage on the bases- because he stole 5 of them. Total, in Omar’s first 9 pro games, he’s hitting 308/455/385 with 1 triple, 6 walks against 4 strikeouts, and 11 stolen bases without a single caught stealing.
Definitely an excellent start!
