So, it’s time to rank the Valley League teams again!
As I wrote the last time, this is just one guy’s attempt to rank the teams in the Valley, using record, runs scored and allowed, and team batting and pitching stats. On one level, this is ridiculous given the short season, but on the other hand, it’s fun. So don’t read too much into this: Covington won the league title in 2011 after going 21-23 in the regular season. All teams have to do is make the playoffs, and anything can happen!
(I have included a pitching-oriented comment for each team this time)
The Contenders
1. Harrisonburg Turks: 23-8 record, 162-111 runs scored-runs allowed, 280/343/381 team batting, 2.37 team ERA, rank the last power rankings: 4th. The Turks’ staff ERA is 0.77 lower than the second best team!
2. Front Royal Cardinals: 18-12, 162-112, 273/359/354, 3.14, 2nd: Mario Morales leads the entire league in ERA at 1.27 (in 28.1 innings)…
