Unbelievably, we are beginning the last week of the regular season of the 2015 Valley League season.

So, with that in mind, it’s time to start keeping track of the playoff chase. First, the rules. The league is split into two divisions this year, with six teams in each (North and South). The top four records from each division will make the playoffs, seeded 1-4. The first two rounds will be played within divisions, and the final round will be between the winners of each division. All rounds will be best of three.

Now, the teams…

South Division

1. Harrisonburg: 26-11, 5 games remaining: @Covington, New Market, @Charlottesville, @Waynesboro, Staunton. The Turks have clinched a top two seed in the North.

2. Staunton: 22-13, 6 games remaining: Aldie, Waynesboro, @Charlottesville, Covington, New Market, @Harrisonburg. The Braves will clinch a playoff spot with one more win- a top two seed with one more win, actually.

3. Waynesboro: 18-19, 5 games remaining: @Staunton, Covington, New Market, Harrisonburg, Charlottesville. The Generals are two wins ahead of both Covington and Charlottesville at the moment.

T4. Covington: 16-19, 6 games remaining: Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, @Waynesboro, @Staunton, Charlottesville, @New Market. The ‘Jacks are tied with Charlottesville, two wins behind Waynesboro.

T4. Charlottesville: 16-19, 6 games remaining: @Covington, @New Market, Staunton, Harrisonburg, @Covington, @Waynesboro. Sox are tied with Covington, two wins behind Waynesboro.

6. New Market: 14-23, 5 games left: Charlottesville, @Harrisonburg, @Waynesboro, @Staunton, Covington. An uphill climb for the Rebs. They are three games behind the ‘Jacks and Sox.. .they need to get hot right away!

North Divison (This is a jumble!)

1. Front Royal: 19-17, 6 games left: @Woodstock, Aldie, @Winchester, Woodstock, @Strasburg, @Charles Town. The Cards have lost 5 games in a row, but still lead the South.

T2. Aldie: 18-17, 7 games left: @Staunton, @Front Royal, Charles Town, @Strasburg doubleheader, @Winchester, Woodstock.

T2. Strasburg: 18-17, 6 games left: @Charles Town, Woodstock, Aldie doubleheader, Front Royal, @Winchester. That doubleheader with Aldie on Thursday looms large….

4. Winchester: 16-18, 6 games left: @Woodstock doubleheader, Front Royal, @Charles Town, Aldie, Strasburg. 4th place, but only 2 games out of first. What a week this may be!

5. Charles Town: 16-21, 5 games left: Strasburg, @Aldie, Winchester, @Woodstock, Front Royal. 1.5 games behind Winchester, 3 games behind Strasburg and Aldie.

6. Woodstock: 15-20, 7 games left: Front Royal, Winchester doubleheader, @Strasburg, @Front Royal, Charles Town, @Aldie. This team is red hot right now- the offense is capable of piling on runs at any time. They have an uphill battle, though- they have to pass two teams to make the playoffs, even though they are only 3 games behind Aldie and Strasburg. If the ‘Stock beat Front Royal tonight, who knows!
