If you enjoy reading about prospects and have not been to John Sickel’s page minorleagueball.com, you need to remedy that very soon. He does reports on individual players, whole leagues, and does draft lists, along with tons of other relevant baseball information.
Two days ago, Jake Rashkow published a list of top midseason performers in the Arizona League on John’s page. Two former Valley Leaguers appear on the list, even though they are both a little bit old for the level.

The first player listed is Heath Slatton, ranked 8th on the list, and an 18th round draft pick in 2015 of the San Francisco Giants. Heath pitched for the Staunton Braves in 2014. Here is his writeup:
8. RHRP/CL Heath Slatton (AZL Giants) – Slatton is 2nd in appearances but, 1st in SV and Games Finished. In 2015, He is: 2-0, 4 SV, 11 GF, 0.69 ERA over 13.0 IP, 12 K, 3 BB.
The second player is James Vasquez, who also played for Staunton in 2014 (and 2013 as well). James is ranked 10th on the list, and was a 25th round draft pick in the 2015 draft by the Cincinnati Reds. His words:
10. 1B James Vazquez (AZL Reds) – Left handed hitting Vazquez is tied for the most homers in the league with 6 and tied for 3rd in RBI. His slash is: .337/.397/.633. Vazquez is a 25th round pick out of University of Central Florida.
Not only does he have 6 home runs, but he also has 7 doubles and 3 triples.
Congratulations to both!
