At the conclusion of every minor league season, each major league organization sends a bevy of prospects to the Arizona Fall League for some further seasoning. It’s an honor for a player to be sent- not only for the better weather in Arizona, but it shows that the team sees something they like in the player.
This year, four former Valley Leaguers have been sent to the Southwest. Let’s take a look at how they’re doing thus far:
- Mac Williamson (Harrisonburg 2011), playing for Scottsdale: 372/471/558 in 43 at-bats. Mac, fresh off his first major league at-bats, is crushing the ball in the desert. He has 2 doubles, 2 home runs, and a 8/6 BB/K ratio.
- Adam Parks (Charles Town 2013), playing for Surprise: 0-0, 9.82 in only 3 2/3 innings pitched.
- Joseph Odom (Winchester 2012), playing for Peoria: 105/105/105 in 19 at-bats.
- Brian Holmes (Harrisonburg 2010), playing for Glendale: 0-0, 0.82 in 11 innings. He’s given up 6 hits, 7 walks, and has struck out 7.
EDIT: Harrison Cooney (Front Royal 2012) is also in the Fall League. Pitching for Mesa, he’s 0-1, 5.00 in 7 games and 9 innings pitched. Sorry, Harrison!
Wow… Parks doesn’t seem to be in command like he was here…
