Austin Edens Samford 2015Our #8 hitter, Austin Edens, from Staunton and Samford, is definitely starting to get a reputation as an up-and-coming young hitter.

First of all, for Staunton in the summer of 2015, Austin  hit 352/403/493 in 37 games and 142 at-bats. He added 13 runs, 27 RBIs, 9 doubles, a triple, and 3 home runs. His BB/K ratio was 9/21. He finished 4th in the league in batting average, and 8th in slugging. The Braves made a deep run in the playoffs, and over those games, Austin went 8-32, with 3 runs, 3 doubles, a home run, 5 RBIs, and a 6/5 BB/K ratio.

Austin has completed one season at Samford, and it was an excellent one. He hit .357 in 213 at-bats, along with 48 runs, 54 RBIs, 17 doubles, 16 home runs, and a solid 30/44 BB/K ratio. He was named the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year, and All-SoCon 1st team. Perfect Game has also named Austin to their 2016 Preseason All-American 3rd Team.

Austin Edens is definitely a name to remember!
