As usual, I have waited far too long before reporting on minor and major league transactions that affect our pro players from the Valley League. So let’s take a look at what’s happened since the last time we checked in, which, honestly, was MONTHS ago:

Transactions

The David Carpenter (Covington 2004) saga: David started 2015 with the Yankees, but was traded in June to the Nationals after being designated for assignment. He finished 2015 with Washington, and was granted free agency. He signed with Atlanta in November, but was released earlier in March. On March 11th, he signed with the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Tyler Bortnick (Front Royal 2006) saga: First, he was released by Arizona, then signed by the Mariners, then released again, and now he’s been signed by Detroit.

The New York Yankees released Sam Agnew-Wieland (Luray 2011), Jared Burton (who was then signed by Texas, then released by Texas), and Ty McFarland (Harrisonburg 2011)

Oakland released Hunter Adkins (Staunton 2010), who then signed with Miami, Ryan Mathews (Waynesboro 2009), and Nick Rickles (Luray 2010), who has signed with Washington.
