Hitter of the Day
Our hitter of the day is Covington’s Fabian Pena, from Manhattan! Fabian went 3-4, with 2 runs, 3 RBIs, and 3 doubles. Fabian is now hitting 309/356/527 in 55 at-bats for the Lumberjacks. He had a very successful season in ’16 for Manhattan, too, as he hit 350/415/498 in 214 at-bats. He was tied for the team lead in doubles (22), and led in home runs (9) and RBIs (54).

Pitcher of the Day
Our pitcher of the day is a “returner” to the VBL- Tyler Howe also pitched for Waynesboro in 2015. Tyler, a 6-foot-1
righthander from Alabama State, threw 6 1/3 shutout innings last night, and allowed 2 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 5. He earned the win and a game score of 72. This was his best start in the Valley so far this season; Tyler is now 1-2, 6.32 in 21 1/3 innings pitched. By ERA, Tyler was one of the best pitchers in Division I this spring for the Hornets. In his college season, Tyler went 10-3, 1.69, with 82 strikeouts in 80 innings pitched.
