Sometimes there are several walk-offs in a Valley League evening… sometimes not. Last night saw four games all decided by at least 6 runs. In fact, 58 runs were scored in these four games. Wow.
Results
Winchester 14, Purcellville 5 (Royals crush the Cannons with an onslaught of 22 hits and 14 runs. TWO Royals went 5-5 in this one. The Cannons are still one game behind New Market for the final playoff spot, with 6 to play. Winchester, also with 6 games left, trails first place Strasburg by 4.5 games, and leads 3rd place Front Royal by 3.)
Front Royal 10, Woodstock 4 (The Cards pummel the Bandits. With 6 to play, the Cards are 3 games behind 2nd place Winchester, and 3 games ahead of 4th place New Market. The Bandits are now 5 games out of the last playoff spot in the North with 6 games to play.)
Staunton 9, Harrisonburg 1 (Braves use a 7-run 7th (in which 6 of the runs were unearned) to wallop the Turks. Turks are now 2 games behind Waynesboro for the top seed in the South with 6 to play. Staunton are 2 games ahead of the Tom Sox for the last playoff spot in the South with 8 games left.)
Covington 13, Strasburg 2 (Jacks are THIS close to clinching a playoff spot. By the way, something happened to the Express side of the boxscore, so I have no information about half of this game.)

Pitcher of the Day
It’s odd that the pitcher of the day would come from the losing side of a 9-1 blowout, but Harrisonburg’s Chris Farish
came out right before the wheels came off for the Turks. In his first start of the summer, the Wake Forest Demon Deacon threw 6 innings, and allowed 5 hits, 1 earned run, 4 walks, and struck out 6. His game score is 60. He’s now 1-0, 3.50 in 18 innings this summer.
