Career hits of major leaguers that played in the Valley League (since the 2006 draft)….
| 1 | Dan Murphy | Luray ’05 | 1151 |
| 2 | Jason Kipnis | Covington ’06-7 | 808 |
| 3 | Jon Jay | Staunton ’04 | 777 |
| 4 | Yonder Alonso | Luray ’06 | 565 |
| 5 | Collin Cowgill | Covington ’05 | 161 |
| 6 | Tommy La Stella | Haymarket ’09 | 138 |
| 7 | Clint Robinson | Harrisonburg ’05-6 | 133 |
| 8 | Cory Spangenberg | Winchester ’10 | 111 |
| 9 | Eric Campbell | Luray ’06 | 97 |
| 10 | Joey Butler | New Market ’06 | 75 |
Focus on Brett Gardner: 950 hits- 2nd place.
Murphy went over 1,000 in 2016- no small achievement. Kipnis has an outside shot at 1,000 in 2017, but more likely, it’ll happen in 2018. Curious to see what the Padres will do with Cory Spangenberg in 2017- along with Ryan Schimpf.
