Yes and no.

Looking back at the standings since 2001, the Charlottesville Tom Sox are on a record pace, but the Covington Lumberjacks are a little bit off (better).

First of all, the Tom Sox are 17-5, which is a winning percentage of .773. If the team continues at this pace, it will be the best winning percentage in the last 17 years. The next best would be the 2006 New Market Rebels, who finished 32-10, with a percentage of .762.

Secondly, the Lumberjacks are 6-17, with a winning percentage of .261. If the team continued at this pace, they would not have the worst percentage since ’01… “only” the 3rd worst. The 2007 Haymarket Senators finished 11-32-1, with a percentage of .250, and the 2009 Rockbridge Rapids hold the crown after finishing 9-33… a “winning” percentage of .214. The Lumberjacks would have to go 3-16 the rest of the way to equal the Rapids, which I certainly don’t see happening.
