Two former Valley Leaguers have been named to Collegiate Baseball’s list of National Players of the Week– Ray Hernandez (Purcellville 2016-17) and Eric Jones (Charlottesville 2017)!
- Hernandez, from Alabama State, hit 4 home runs in 5 games, while scoring 9 runs and driving in 8. He’s now hitting 324/395/735 over his first 8 games and 34 at-bats. (And this is weird, but I had Ray down as signing as a free agent with the Arizona Diamondbacks last summer. Obviously, this didn’t happen, or it was voided… or something. Anyone know?)
- Jones, from Davidson, drove in an incredible 17 runs over only 4 games with 3 homers and 2 doubles. After a total of 23 at-bats in his first 7 games in 2018, Eric is hitting 391/516/870. Whoa.
Congrats to both!
