Our latest former VBLer who is off to a delightful start for his college team this spring is the former New Market Rebel (2017) Jake Washer, the redshirt sophomore at East Carolina.
First of all, Jake hit very well for the Rebs last summer; in fact, he was named the 9th best hitter in the league by ATVL. Overall, he finished 341/417/523 in 132 at-bats, with 36 runs, 34 RBIs, 9 doubles, 5 home runs, and a solid 16/25 BB/K ratio.
For the Pirates so far this spring, Jake is hitting 432/527/636 in 15 games and 44 at-bats, with 8 runs, 12 RBIs, 4 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 home run. He also has a sterling 10/9 BB/K ratio. He leads his team in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, doubles, and walks.
Jake and the Pirates play Maryland tonight.
