We’ve taken a look at the current college stats of the top hitters and starting pitchers from the 2013 Valley League season, so now it’s time to take a look at how ATVL’s top 2013 relievers are doing this year.
Here are the ten! (Stats are through Saturday, May 17)

1. Adam Zipko, New Market, Millersville: 9-0, 1.54, 9 saves, 41 innings, 30 hits, 15/44 BB/K. Adam has saved and won 18 of Millersville’s 39 wins so far!
2. Matt Tindall, Aldie, Trinity: 0-1, 1.56, 1 save, 17 1/3 innings, 8 hits, 8/14 BB/K.
3. Mitchell Wade, Staunton, Mercer: 0-0, 5.56, 11 1/3 innings, 17 hits, 2/8 BB/K.
4. Sean Buchholz, Waynesboro, Southern Miss: 0-0, 3.15, 5 saves, 20 innings, 21 hits, 7/28 BB/K. 28 strikeouts in 20 innings!
5. Logan Onda, Harrisonburg, Texas-San Antonio: 3-2, 2.30, 8 saves, 58 2/3 innings, 55 hits, 10/51 BB/K. Logan has the 2nd most innings and strikeouts on this list.
6. Adam Lamar, Woodstock, UAB: 2-1, 5.49, 19 2/3 innings, 23 hits, 16/17 BB/K.
7. Andrew Woods, New Market, VMI: 5-2, 2.70, 76 2/3 innings, 76 hits, 25/71 BB/K. Andrew is the only player from the list to work the season exclusively as a starter. He’s started 13 games for VMI. He also has the most innings and strikeouts on the list of top ten.
8. Sean Rutherford, New Market, William & Mary: 0-0, 4.50, 2 innings, 8 hits, 0/3 BB/K. Only 2 innings?!?
9. Evan Kirsch, Strasburg: Evan played for Millersville in 2o13, but has not in 2014. He’s not on their roster, and I can find no evidence of a transfer.
10. Josh Thorne, Waynesboro, Stetson: 2-0, 6.00, 1 save, 30 innings, 31 hits, 10/19 BB/K.
Zipko, Onda, and Woods (with Buchholz nearing the triumvirate) have had the best seasons. I’m going to be very, very curious when the June draft rolls around!
