Here is our latest installment of ATVL’s league record book from 2004: runs scored!
1 | Leo Rojas | Winchester | 2012 | 59 |
2 | Jimmy Yezzo | Winchester | 2012 | 51 |
3 | Jon Love | Front Royal | 2004 | 46 |
Bruce Sprowl | Winchester | 2004 | 46
Jason Kipnis | Covington | 2007 | 46
Cory Spangenberg | Winchester | 2010 | 46
7 | Chris Aninos | Waynesboro | 2007 | 45 |
Spencer Wiggins | Haymarket | 2007 | 45
Lammar Guy | Covington | 2009 | 45
Jay Gonzalez | Harrisonburg | 2011 | 45
Joseph Odom | Winchester | 2012 | 45
Julian Ridings | Waynesboro | 2012 | 45 |
No Valley Leaguer reached 45 runs in 2014, although Nick Sinay (Front Royal) came close- he scored 43 runs in the regular season, and one in the playoffs (and one in the All-Star game, too, but I don’t count those). Considering that the normal Valley League season is only 44 games, every season on this list is pretty impressive.
Out of the 12 entries, 4 have come from the monster 2012 hitting year. Winchester has 5 on the list, while Covington and Waynesboro each have 2.
Yezzo, Gonzalez, Odom, and Ridings are all currently in the minor leagues. Kipnis and Spangenberg are major leaguers, but the rest have not joined affiliated pro ball. (Jon Love’s 2004 season is all over the record book, by the way.)
Overall, this list has an interesting mix of speed guys (Wiggins, Aninos, Guy, Gonzalez) and power guys (Yezzo, Odom).
