Moving to the next starter on the top ten list, we have Michael O’Reilly, from Woodstock and Flagler College, the #10 pitcher of the 2014 season!
Michael went 2-5, 2.55 in 10 starts for the RiverBandits, along with a 1.167 WHIP, .232 batting average against, 2.7 BB/9, and 7.5 K/9 in 60 innings pitched. Along with the excellent performance, O’Reilly was a workhorse in Woodstock, as he finished 1st in games started, and 2nd in innings pitched (behind New Market’s Garrett Kelly). Michael’s best start was on July 13th against Aldie, when he threw 7 innings and allowed 5 hits, 1 unearned run, 1 walk, and struck out 5.
At Flagler as a freshman in 2013, he went 1-3, 3.72, with 4 starts and 3 saves, and struck out 30 and walked 13 in 38 2/3 innings pitched. His numbers were similar in 2014 as a sophomore, when he went 4-3, 3.62. He didn’t start a game, but saved 6, and struck out 35 and walked 11 in 32 1/3 innings.
Congratulations on your excellent summer, Michael, and good luck at Flagler this spring!
