#9 Starting Pitcher: Brock Hunter, Strasburg

Moving on up the list, today we have the 9th best starting pitcher in the 2014 Valley League season: Brock Hunter, from Strasburg and Coastal Carolina!

Brock pitched in 12 games- 6 of them starts. He went 3-3, 2.36, with a .234 batting average against, 1.238 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9, and 10.1 K/9 in 42 innings. With his 47 strikeouts in 42 innings, he came in first in K/9 out of all the starters surveyed for this list. Brock’s best start was on July 21st against Aldie, when he threw 7 shutout innings, allowing only 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 10.

Hunter is currently in his junior year at Coastal. In 2013 as a freshman, he threw 10 total innings in 12 games. He pitched a bit more as a sophomore, going 0-1, 4.07 in 22 games and 24 1/3 innings. He allowed 24 hits and 11 walks while striking out 22.
