Max Povse 2013 Staunton
Povse back in 2013

Prospect guru John Sickels is currently updating his website with his top prospects for each team (when he gets them finished). A few Valley Leaguers have made his lists so far, so stay tuned!

We’ll start with the Atlanta Braves. John listed three former Valley Leaguers in his writeup for the (rather weak) system, with one getting his own couple sentences.

First of all, Max Povse (Staunton 2013), the Braves’ 3rd round pick in the 2014 draft, made the list at #17. John gave Max a grade of C+ (read his explanation if you want to know what that means), and wrote this about the big fella:

Age 21, third round pick from UNC-Greensboro, very tall at 6-8, rough secondaries were troublesome in college but he made some progress in the Appy League, 3.42 ERA with 37/11 K/BB in 47 innings.

So not only is Max $425,000 richer (his signing bonus), but he’s getting some attention, too!

The other two VBLers were listed under “Other Grade C Prospects” without a writeup: Chris Diaz (Staunton 2012), drafted in the 5th round in 2014, and Jordan Edgerton (Woodstock 2013), who was drafted by the Braves in the 9th round in 2014.
