Bucs vs FGCU Dave Boyd/Johnson City PressOur 7th-best reliever in the 2014 Valley League season is Waynesboro’s Griffin Krieg, the 6-foot-5 righthander from East Tennessee State!

Overall, for the Generals, Griffin went 3-0, 2.64, with a .169 opponent’s batting average, 0.941 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9, and 6.9 K/9 in 17 innings pitched. He added in 2 more wins in the playoffs, going 2-0, 1.22 in 7 1/3 innings, while striking out 9.

As a freshman at ETSU in 2013, Griffin went 2-3, 7.64 in 16 games (10 starts). His WHIP was 1.87, and he had a 5.4 BB/9 and 4.6 K/9 in 52 2/3 innings. He didn’t pitch nearly as much in 2014 as a sophomore, going 0-0, 3.27 in only 11 innings.

The good news for Generals fans, though, is that Griffin is planning to come back to Waynesboro for the summer of 2015! If Griffin is able to replicate his success this summer, the Generals will have one spot on their staff in very good shape.
