Moving right along, today we have Tyler Brown, the 6th best reliever from the 2014 Valley League season!
Tyler, a 5-foot-10 junior righthander from Wingate, was very, very good out of the bullpen for the Harrisonburg Turks. In fact, out of the 9 games he appeared in, Tyler allowed only 1 earned run (he gave up 4 unearned ones).
Overall, Tyler went 3-1, 0.56, with 2 saves, a .182 batting average against, 0.938 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9, and 10.1 K/9 in 16 innings pitched. In his last 7 1/3 innings, he allowed 3 hits, 3 walks, 0 runs, and struck out 12.
For Wingate as a freshman in 2013, Tyler went 0-2, 7.71, with 22 hits, 10 walks, and 13 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings. He was outstanding out of the ‘pen in 2014 as a sophomore, going 2-2, 2.76, with 3 saves, 21 hits, 13 walks, and 29 strikeouts in 29 1/3 innings.
Tyler has pitched in two games thus far in 2015 for Wingate- both of them starts. He’s 1-1, 7.45 in the very small sample size.
Congratulations on your excellent summer, Tyler!
