#7 Starting Pitcher: Brett Sasse, Waynesboro

The 7th best starting pitcher in the Valley League in the summer of 2015 is Waynesboro’s Brett Sasse!

Brett, a 6-foot righthander from Nebraska-Omaha, went 2-2, 2.77, with a 1.128 WHIP, 0.7 BB/9, and 5.3 K/9 in 39 innings for the Generals. He allowed 41 hits, but walked only 3 batters all season, and struck out 23. His best start was on July 6th at Woodstock, when he threw 9 shutout innings while allowing only 2 hits, 0 walks, and struck out 6. This was, by game score, the best start of the entire season by any pitcher!

For Nebraska-Omaha, Sasse redshirted in 2013, and threw only 5 1/3 innings in 2014. In 2015, he went 0-2, 5.79, with 2 saves in 28 innings, with 37 hits allowed, 10 walks, and 17 strikeouts. He pitched in 14 games, with just one of them a start.

Brett’s doing his work in the classroom, too. He was named to the Summit League’s Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll AND the Distinguished Scholars List in both 2013-14 and 2014-2015. He was also named to the Summit League Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence in 2014-15. He is majoring in business.
