So, home runs. They must be taken in context, right? (Park Factors is a project I’m always trying to work on, but it takes so much time….) Certain years play up, too, like 2012, when the balls, allegedly, were juiced.
That’s not to take anything away from any of these young men… just something to keep in mind. So here is the list of the top home run hitters in the league since the 2004 season!
| 1 | Joseph Odom | Winchester | 2012 | 17 |
| 2 | Jon Love | Front Royal | 2004 | 16 |
| Steve McQuail | Front Royal | 2009 | 16 | |
| Jimmy Yezzo | Winchester | 2012 | 16 | |
| 5 | Collin Cowgill | Covington | 2005 | 14 |
| 6 | Marcus Nidiffer | Covington | 2008 | 13 |
| Ryan Durrence | Covington | 2009 | 13 | |
| Shaun Cooper | Harrisonburg | 2010 | 13 | |
| Jonathan Griffin | Luray | 2010 | 13 | |
| Brandon Murray | Waynesboro | 2012 | 13 |
Odom, McQuail, Yezzo, Cowgill, Nidiffer, Cooper, and Griffin have all played organized ball. (Nidiffer just hit 22 home runs for Rockland in the Canadian-American Association in 2015!) Cowgill is the only major leaguer.
RBIs are next!
Can’t wait for 2016 season!
