Reid Van Woert St Bonaventure 2015The 6th best starting pitcher in the 2015 Valley League season is St. Bonaventure’s Reid Van Woert!

Pitching for the now-defunct Aldie Senators, Reid went 2-0, 1.80, with a 1.111 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9, and 6.2 K/9 in 45 innings pitched. He allowed 38 hits, walked 12 batters, and struck out 31. His best starts were two straight against Strasburg in July. On the 17th, he threw 8 shutout innings in a no-decision, allowing 6 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 7. Six days later, on the 23rd, he threw 7 shutout innings, allowing only 3 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 8 to earn the win.

Reid also pitched for Aldie in 2014, and went 3-1, 2.76, with 14 walks and 22 strikeouts in 26 innings.

Reid has been a bit of a nomad in his college career. In 2012 and 2013, he was at Monmouth. He threw only 4 2/3 innings in 2012, and didn’t pitch in 2013. In 2014, he attended Onondaga Community College, and went 5-3, 3.65 in 44 1/3 innings pitched, along with 19 walks and 39 strikeouts. Then he transferred to St. Bonaventure in 2015, but only threw 2 1/3 innings.

Watch for a big leap forward for Reid this spring!
