Matthew Koehler Western Carolina 2015We start off the top hitters of the 2015 Valley League season with Matthew Koehler, from Woodstock and Western Carolina!

Matthew had an excellent season in the Valley, hitting 308/419/414 in 37 games and 133 at-bats. He added 27 runs, 19 RBIs, 6 doubles, 4 triples, 8 stolen bases, and 18 walks against 28 strikeouts. He was also hit by a pitch 8 times, which obviously helped his OBP. Matthew had 3 hits in a game 4 times, including three games in a row July 15-17, in which he went 9-13 overall.

Koehler is currently a sophomore at Western Carolina. As a freshman in 2015, he hit 233/349/278 in 90 at-bats, with 16 runs, 6 RBIs, 4 doubles, 5 stolen bases, and a 10/29 BB/K ratio. Watch for a breakout season in 2016 for the Catamounts!
