The 10th best hitter in the 2015 Valley League season is Jared Baker, from Harrisonburg and Oklahoma City! Jared was a mainstay in the Turks’ lineup, hitting 333/390/442 in 138 at-bats, along with 21 runs, 23 RBIs, 6 doubles, 3 triples, a home run, and a solid 15/19 BB/K ratio. He walked and scored a run in the all-star game, and went a total of 2-10 in postseason play, with a double, walk, and run scored.
Jared has done nothing but rake in college. In 2014 at Oklahoma City, as a freshman, Jared hit 344/369/468 in 186 at-bats, with 29 runs, 26 RBIs, 15 doubles, a triple, and 2 home runs. He was even better as a sophomore, hitting 342/414/487 in 193 at-bats. He scored 38 runs, drove in 44, and hit 16 doubles and 4 home runs. He walked 10 more times his sophomore year than the year before, too. He was a Academic All-Sooner Athletic Conference selection after that dominating sophomore season.
Congratulations on your excellent summer, Jared!
