Our 7th best hitter in the 2015 Valley League season is Aldie’s Andrew Seigel!
Andrew hit 373/444/455 in 110 at-bats for the now-defunct Senators, while adding 20 runs, 17 RBIs, 5 doubles, 2 triples, and a fantastic 15/11 BB/K ratio. He had a hit in the all-star game, but went 0-7 in Aldie’s two playoff games against Strasburg. Andrew’s best game was probably his second of the summer, on June 14 at Winchester, when he went 4-5 with 3 runs, a double, an RBI, and 2 stolen bases. Seigel finished 2nd in the league in batting average, and 4th in on-base percentage.
The 5-10 senior from Ashburn, Virginia, has been a three year starter at Concord. IN 2013, as a freshman, Andrew hit a whopping 376/438/443 in 194 at-bats. He scored 57 runs, drove in 27, hit 9 doubles, and stole 27 bases. He had a bit of an off-year in 2014, but he was still very productive. He hit 277/372/315 in 184 at-bats, with 45 runs, 26 RBIs, 1 double, and 3 triples. He stole 22 more bases.
As a junior in 2015, his rate stats jumped back up, as he hit 358/429/453 in 179 at-bats. He scored 43 runs, hit 11 doubles and 3 triples, and stole 19 more bases. Andrew now has 69 stolen bases in his college career, which places him 2nd all-time at Concord. (He needs 19 stolen bases as a senior to set the record.) He is also on the all-time list for triples (tied in 8th place), and is close to joining the top ten in runs, hits, and walks. (I love when a college baseball program has a record book online!)
He also received some awards. In 2013, Andrew was 1st team All-WVIAC, and NCBWA All-Region. In 2104, he was named honorable mentioned All-MEC. And then last year, 2015, he was 2nd team All-MEC.
Congratulations on an excellent career thus far, Andrew!
